2005 Cassette Culture Revival

This year there was a groundswell of interest in cassette culture so lots of interest has led to two nice online groups.

1996 Network

At the Sign of the Senile Bison things were crusing along in the mid 1990s.

1992 Network

During this period I transitioned from the Grandbrother Lounge, to Land of the Large and Settling at The Sign of The Senile Bison.

1988 Network

1988 was the height of the home taping scene's first generation of labels and contacts. After this many people faded out and a whole new generation of home recording artists checked in.

1984 Network

My home taping networking started in 1984, though I had been doing home recordings since the previous year. The earliest person to send me a tape in trade was Al Margolis. Equally early contacts include Ken Clinger, John Wiggins and Hal & Debbie of Cause & Effect who I drove to Indianapolis to visit that year.

Mail Art Networking

It started at Drake University in 1982 when I was making one-of-a-kind postcard collages (ZH## Carte Postale) for friends. During this time I wandered into the international Mail Art postal networking movement.
